Tomorrow’s Reading: Lev 11-12/Mark 7:1-13
Lev
The Ordination of Aaron and sons; notice the ‘cleansing’. Moses washed them in bronze basin in courtyard, did mandatory Sin offering for forgiveness of sins and cleansing from defilement, the voluntary Burnt offering for cleansing unintentional sin and expression of devotion to God. Same with establishing the beginning of the Priest’s ministry; they added the voluntary Fellowship offering of thanksgiving and fellowship.
Mark
Staying with the theme of Leviticus, the Pharisees questing Jesus and the 12 eating with unclean hands (Pharisees wash before eating). Jesus calls them hypocrites and quotes Isaiah; honor with lips, but not hearts – worship is in vain. Then Jesus references Moses and honor mother/father… referring to the Corban (offering); NIV notes: irresponsible Jewish son could formally dedicate to God his earnings that otherwise would have gone to support family).
How are you worshiping God - with your lips our your heart? Think about the relevance of this in your walk today.
Prayer Request: my mom had what was to be 'out patient' surgery yesterday - things got a little more complicated than expected and they kept her overnight for observations, etc..

C. Hope things go well for your mom!
We were talking about why sacrifices involved the kidneys and abdomenal fat yesterday. I didn't have much time but in O.T. days the kidneys represented the inner most being of man. They represented man's moral fiber. His conscience. I haven't found much on the fat yet.
When I do a necropsy (animal autopsy),the kidneys can be difficult to get to requiring extensive dissection. There is a considerable amount of fat around them. Seeing all that removed from a body you know there is no hope it will ever return to life.
I'm still processing all this. I haven't connected the dots yet.
ohhh yeah, c'mon doc!! Keep'm comming. Good stuff.
Also, did anybody notice there were two type of 'sin' offering. Still researching, but this was the confusion with Moses and Aaron as Moses had thought Aaron deliberately had done wrong in Lev 10:16-20.
