Jacob deceives father Isaac, Esau gets a raw deal (it seemed.. I know, this is all part of God's plan). And in Matthew, Jesus speaks to forgiving from the heart.

Isaac preparing to die and give his blessing to Esau, as it was customary to give blessing to the oldest. Rebekah (Isaac’s wife) favored Jacob over Esau – Isaac favored Esau over Jacob (Esau was a hunter, etc..), which tees up her intervention in tradition in v6. Reading vv1-40 has always been tough for me – just to imaging Esau doing what he knew to do for Isaac’s blessing… his dad. Dunno… just really felt sorry for Esau.
Jacob flees to Rebekah’s brother in Haran (not sure where this is exactly at this time, but thinking either NE of Sea of Galilee or much further East towards Euphrates and Tigris rivers); Rebekah said stay away until your brother forgets what ‘you did’ (ahahaha). Chap28 vv1-5, I’m trying to get the context - was this the result of Rebekah’s action in 27:46 and her disgust w/Hittite women, part of ‘her plan’ for Jacob, .. just not sure. Esau who was “Isaac’s boy”, his favorite, not demonstrates how bitter he is and marries another Hittite from the land of Canaanite – the daughters of Ishmael. Wow.. remember him – he was the Son of Abraham and concubine wife Hagar (hmm plot thickens).
Jacob sets on his way to Paddan Aram in vv10-22 (where this and Haran are I’ll post a map hopefully) – on his journey there, he stops to sleep and has a dream – the Lord speaks to Jacob in this dream that the land he is lying on at that time will be his. Jacob gets it… see’s God’s hand in this land and his life. The rock that he rested his head on is anointed with oil and says this is the ‘gate to heaven’ – and when he returns, were the rock is/was will be ‘Gods house’. Thoughts here?
Matthew 18:21-25
Still in Capernaum; JC and the boys just hanging out talking. Just discussed parable of ‘the lost sheep’ and Peter asked about forgiveness. Jesus gives parable of ‘unmerciful servant’. A man was forgiven by his king (earthly king) for his dept, released, then found one of his servants that owed him 100 denarii – this man couldn’t pay his debt and was thrown into prison. The king found out about it, and said ‘shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant like I had mercy on you?’ Then Jesus said, this is how the Father will treat you unless you forgive ‘from your heart’.
