Sunday April 29, 2007 - Addison get Baptised today

Exodus 27-28/Mark 1:23-45
Tomorrow’s Reading: Exodus 29-30/Mark 2

For you locals, John Bailey West getting Baptised today as well during early service.

Exodus
wow, reading is a little slow - not sure I pulled out all the significance of the details. If you've got something to add, please do. May not be a lot of significance other than just the fact God is one of details/exactness and this is what He wants.

Mark
Jesus heals sick, cast out demons, etc..

Exodus
Setting: more of God’s detail given to Moses

Not sure I’ll be able to pull all the significance from each item mentioned but when reading, take your time and really read each thing – maybe there’s stuff in there that is really cool (not that this text isn’t riveting enough, but not a real ‘page turner’ right now.

Observations/NIV notes: inside of temple all gold, outside all bronze, less the portions that were closest to the ‘most Holy place’, and it was bronze overlaid in gold. Lot of time spent talking about Aaron and getting all ‘gussied up’. Interesting NIV note: 28:35, it says Jewish tradition was to tie a rope to High Priest’s ankle and if the bells stopped ringing in while he was in the Holy place (remember, only priest allowed in this portion of the temple), they could tug on string to make sure all was ok and he wasn’t dead.

Mark
Setting: Jesus/disciples now in Capernaum, NW side of Sea of Galilee (scroll down to map on main post-page)

While in synagogue, the devil possessed and spoke thru a man ‘What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth’ – wow, now that’s some devil-speak. NIV notes: the demon recognized Jesus was a powerful adversary, capable of destroying the forces of Satan!!
Scenes from The Exorcist taken from v26 – ‘…shook man violently’.

Crowds gather, Jesus drives out demons, heals man with leprosy – Mark spends a little time talking about Jesus spending time alone, in prayer I’d say.
