Exodus 7-8/Matt 25:1-30
Tomorrow’s Reading: Exodus 9-11/Matt 25:31-46

Exodus
We start seeing the miracles of God performed thru Moses and Aaron. Pharoah's heart is hardened by God and in today's reading, doesn't allow God's people (Israelites) to have 3days of worship in the desert.

Matthew
Jesus talking to the 12 on Mount of Olives, just East of Jersalem. He tells parable of those unprepared in 'Ten Virgins' and the 'Parable of the Talents' (may need help here).

Exodus 7-8/Matt 25:1-30
Tomorrow’s Reading: Exodus 9-11/Matt 25:31-46

Exodus
Setting: Now in Egypt. Objectives are Moses and Aaron trying to plead with Pharaoh to allow the now many thousands go into the desert to worship God for 3 days.

This is the beginning of the ‘conditioning’ God imposes on Pharaoh. God tells Moses to perform these miracles, but he [God] will harden Pharaoh’s heart. Notice too, when you think of any kid bible stories and movies, I thought Moses carried out all of God’s miracles until last-year’s read. Aaron did many of the first, the staff/snake thing, waters to blood (any/all waters; Nile, ponds, in buckets/jars), seven days later frogs everywhere, and the gnats.

After a week of all water being blood and now frogs every where, Pharaoh calls Moses/Aaron to make the frogs go away. Love 9:9, ‘I leave to you the honor of setting the time’. Now the gnats, v17, ALL THE DUST of the land because gnats – wow, think about if only 1,000 are at your picnic; I coached Addison’s baseball last year – two games in Adams Tennessee were on a ‘gnat infested’ field and it was miserable (the gnats, not the coaching.. ahah). The magicians performed similar acts on the other miracles, but this they could not do and informed Pharaoh this was from God. Then flies on the 9th day; everywhere in houses and even covered the ground v21.

Matthew
Setting; Jesus is still talking to the 12 about the end of times. Now on a mountain ridge a little over a miles long, overlooking Jerusalem, called the Mount of Olives (24:3). The story of the ‘Ten Virgins’, 5 wise, 5 foolish… kind of gives me a feeling of emptiness. As they were sleeping! (rags on poles, dip’d in Olive oil for fuel), the cry rang out in v6, ‘Here’s the bridegroom’! The 5 foolish were not ready and when they tried to prepare, it was too late – in v12, ‘I don’t know you’. Wow.

Parable of the Talents – what do you think it means here. I thought he was talking about knowledge/wisdom of Him, and being a witness to others. With the gifts we’ve received, go and share with others for good. And possibly in v26-30 where the one who had ‘knowledge/wisdom’ did not ‘share’, he was rebuked. Thoughts??
