Tomorrow's read: Job 17-19/Matt 10-42
Eliphaz steps back up with a little different tone than his first appearance to Job - before he was noted as the most kind of the the three (Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar) - but this time, 'brings a little more heat' to the discussion. Job remains steady on his position - his patience with theses three elders is running out.
Cut/pasted from yesterday's post - I read today's date, yesterday... and yesterday's today. Please re-visit yesterday's post/comments for 'discussion topics/observations on Matt 9:18-38.

Job14
Job continues to speak to the shortness of life of man. He compares human life to that of a tree – even after a tree dies, it will sprout new life at the scent of water (easily, I take it). Man compared to a boat in a dried up sea… (hmmm.. boat small, sea large/vast). Job does demonstrate his faith in resurrection in v12 (NOTE: does anybody know where the first place in the bible that mentions life will be restored in the heavens someday – ‘the nether-world seems to pop up in Job notes). Guessing we’ve read that already, but this morning.. don’t recall).
Job15
Eliphaz jumps right in with ‘some heat’ in vv1-6, which set the tone for the entire chapter. Eliphaz continues to accuse Job that he holds contempt for God’s counsel (remember we discussed this a little with Abraham when God was going to rain-down on Sodom/Gomorra), as well as he [Eliphaz] and his friends.
Job16
Job slams his friends vv1-5 (I think v3 I’ve had to use against Tina [my wife] before “Will your long-winded speeches never end?” – hehe). Notes on vv18-21 state that Job doesn’t see himself living long enough to be vindicated among his peers – but, in heaven he’ll have a friend who’ll be his witness/advocate/intercessor.. one who’ll plead with God on his behalf.
Matt10:1-20
Apostles; Simon, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James, Thaddeus, Simon, and Judas (memory stuff for later);
The tone is ‘reach out’ V5 – ‘Do not go among the Gentiles’, Jesus wanted to ‘good news’ to be spread to the Jews only, at first – to the ‘lost sheep of Israel’. (not exactly sure why at this point). Also in v14 ‘…shake the dust off’, ie, seems to be saying you’ve given a warning to those that don’t listen, that’s all I expect from you. Thoughts?
